GO TO PART 4

DESCRIPTION: It’s part three of our discussion with cinematographers Adrian Peng Correia (“GLOW,” “Kevin Can F**k Himself”) and Andy Rydzewski (“PEN15,” “Dollface”) as we analyze the various looks of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. Adrian gives us his thoughts on the style of some of the later films, while Andy argues that “Fallout” is messier (in a good way), and we talk about the switch from film to digital for aspects of “Fallout” and how digital might change the franchise forever. Released March 18th, 2022.

SHOW NOTES: In the interview Adrian brings up this awesome shot of Ilsa going up the stairs at the opera in “Rogue Nation”...

We talk a lot about the lighting in “Fallout” and a comparison is made to “The Godfather.” Here are some screen grabs from both films side by side, courtesy of Shot Deck...

We also discuss DP Robert Elswit’s work on “There Will Be Blood” and “Nightcrawler.” Here are some screen grabs from those films, courtesy of Film Grab...

Adrian talks about how they lit Rebecca Ferguson’s close-ups in “Rogue Nation” and “Fallout.” Here are some screen grabs from both films...

As mentioned in the episode, the show Play By Play is currently on Roku Channel. Adrian shot season 1 and Andy shot seasons 2 and 3.

Adrian also shot Charles’s movie “Night Owls,” which is currently on Hulu with the Cinemax add-on. It’s also on DirecTV and Spectrum, or you can stream it for free on Tubi or Pluto TV.

If you’re interested in Adrian’s other work, check out Ramy, the second season of GLOW, The Flight Attendant, Kevin Can F**k Himself, and Love Life.

If you want to see some of Andy’s other work, watch PEN15 and the second season of Dollface.
